Hedrick, Gladys A.

HEDRICK, Gladys A. (Farano) Born on November 28, 1923 in Spokane, Washington, Mom went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2013.
She graduated from Rogers High School in 1942 and in July married Ralph J. Farano, her high school sweetheart. They owned and operated HCJ Electronics in the Spokane Valley where they sold and repaired amateur radio equipment. Mom was the bookkeeper. They made many lifelong friends through their hobby and business. Mom’s call letters were K7MFS and Dad’s were W7HCJ.
Mom enjoyed camping, going to Hamfests, and spending time at the lake cabin with family and friends. Dad passed away in 1972 and later mom married Milton (Happ) Hedrick in 1976 and moved to Bainbridge Island, WA. After Happ passed in 1992, she moved back to the Spokane Valley to be near family.
Survivors include daughter Pam Rodgers and husband Steve of Cheney; five grandchildren: Sara (Bryon) Talley, Jenna Bryant and Lisa Rodgers all of Spokane, and Breanne and Jeff Rodgers of Cheney; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, along with a special friend, Tom Rousseau (Sandi) of Hood River, Oregon, who was like a son to Mom and Dad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warner and Emma Daniels, one brother, six sisters and son Gary Farano.
We would like to thank the staff at Sullivan Park Assisted Living for their wonderful and loving care of mom the past five years. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at Sacred Heart Medical Center who provided special care to mom her last few days of life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Spokane Alzheimer’s Association, The Union Gospel Mission, or Shriners Childrens Hospital of Spokane. A celebration of her life will be held this summer at Twin Lakes, Idaho, where we have shared so many happy and fun times together.
